Gear up, folks, because tonight’s the night: The first presidential debate/showdown between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump is upon us.
However, while you can be sure to find Hollywood stars on both sides of the aisle cheering on the candidates this evening, when it comes to the fashion industry, the makeup is overwhelmingly blue. Designers, stylists, bloggers and editors alike have mostly come out in favor of the Democratic nominee.
That’s not to say there aren’t any Trump supporters in the industry — after all, Ivanka Trump’s clothing line is still a top-seller. For now, we’re guessing the majority of fashion’s Trump camp is still in the closet.
The Stylists
Karla Welch, Elizabeth Stewart, Leslie Fremar, Kemal Harris
Several of The Hollywood Reporter‘s power stylists — Karla Welch, Elizabeth Stewart, Leslie Fremar and Kemal Harris among them — have taken advantage of their massive Instagram followings, most of which were won through their picture-perfect styling and celeb cameos, to campaign on Clinton’s behalf. Welch’s feed, for example, is essentially two parts fashion, one part Hillary endorsement, while Stewart killed two birds with one ‘gram on Emmys night, posing with her Marchesa-clad client Viola Davis while she herself was wearing a pro-Clinton tee.

The Designers
Tory Burch, Marc Jacobs, Altuzarra, Baja East, Humberto Leon and Carol Lim
If this past New York Fashion Week was any indication, some of the biggest names in American fashion are definitely #WithHer. Between Opening Ceremony’s political forum/fashion show (orchestrated by designers Carol Lim and Humberto Leon) to designers’ pro-Clinton attire (Stacey Bendet of Alice + Olivia, Scott Studenberg and John Targon of Baja East) and even Rufus Wainwright’s Clinton namecheck while performing at Michael Kors‘ show, there was no shortage of support for the Democratic nominee from the fashion big shots.
Not to mention, Tory Burch has hosted several fundraisers on her behalf, and was one of several designers to participate in the Made for History t-shirt campaign, which also featured designs by Marc Jacobs, Prabal Gurung, Tanya Taylor, Public School, Altuzarra and Rag & Bone.
The Models
Kendall Jenner, Christy Turlington-Burns, Amber Valletta, Chrissy Teigen
The CFDA recruited several models, including Kendall Jenner and Taylor Hill, to star in their “Register to Vote, and Vote” PSA, however Jenner went a step further on her own social media, endorsing Clinton by wearing Marc Jacobs’ Clinton campaign tee (the very same tee that was also spotted on Anna Wintour) and posting the image on Instagram. Christy Turlington-Burns, Amber Valletta and Chrissy Teigen have also vocalized their support for Clinton via social media.
Karlie Kloss, who has been known to speak up on behalf of causes she believes in, including the push to break down walls (and glass ceilings) for women in STEM, has been noticeably hushed regarding politics. Her silence may be related to the fact that her longtime boyfriend, Josh Kushner, is the younger brother of Ivanka Trump’s husband, Jared Kushner.
The Bloggers
BryanBoy, Chriselle Lim
Whether Vogue likes it or not, fashion bloggers hold plenty of power and influence in the industry. And when it comes to leveraging their influence, the bloggers have come out in spades for Clinton. BryanBoy and Chriselle Lim — who was one of several millennial panelists on a recent q&a with Clinton — are just a couple bloggers whose street style pics feature pro-Clinton merch.
The Industry Heavyweights
Anna Wintour, Grace Coddington, Eva Chen, Derek Blasberg
Anna Wintour has hosted several fundraisers for Clinton over the years, and is arguably one of her biggest supporters across industries. Her most recent campaign contribution was the organization of the fashion show fundraiser in collaboration with Huma Abedin, which was attended by fellow Vogue legend Grace Coddington, as well as plenty fashion A-listers like Eva Chen, Derek Blasberg and Lauren Santo Domingo.
