The Orchard is partnering with Jeff Deutchman for an Election Day documentary, 11/8/16.
The documentary has enlisted a large group of filmmakers from across the country to document the morning of the 2016 presidential election, which pits Republican nominee Donald Trump against Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.
Girls creator Lena Dunham, Pete’s Dragon director David Lowery and documentarian Douglas Tirola are among the participating filmmakers. The full list can be found here.
From the Los Angeles Times newsroom to a coal mining town in West Virginia, 11/8/16 is meant to capture all walks of life as the election cycle comes to a close. Deutchman helmed a similar documentary, 11/4/08, that had footage from around the world on the day Barack Obama was elected president.
“I am thrilled and honored to be working with so many of my favorite filmmakers to create a time capsule and portrait of America at this bizarre moment in time,” Deutchman said Wednesday in a statement.
Dana O’Keefe, Brad Navin, Paul Davidson and Danielle DiGiacomo will executive produce.
The Orchard has plans to release the film in early 2017.
