Retrospectives of films by Orson Welles and Shuji Terayama will be featured at this year’s Tokyo International Film Festival.
Works by the two influential cinematic figures will be presented during the 28th edition of the fest, which will run Oct. 22-31.
The Welles retrospective will be co-hosted by the National Film Center, Motion Picture Association Japan, Munich Film Museum and the International Motion Pictures Copyright Association to mark a century since his birth.
Two films from Terayama, a director, poet playwright and screenwriter, will include his 1974 feature Pastoral: To Die in the Country (Den’en Ni Shisu) — which was selected for the competition section of the 28th Cannes International Film Festival — and will celebrate the 80th anniversary of his birth.
