Oscar Parties: The Complete Guide

 

The 88th annual Academy Awards roll out Feb. 28 inside the Dolby Theatre (and on ABC) at the Hollywood & Highland complex with Chris Rock at the helm. In the days and nights leading up to the big show, there are what seem to be 88 events and parties to celebrate Hollywood’s biggest night. Though not quite, Oscar-worthy stamina is required to barrel through this round-up of all the events during the final stretch of awards season.

Wednesday, Feb. 24

Diane von Furstenberg Luncheon
Private residence, Los Angeles
The fashion designer teams with Donna Langley, chairman of Universal Pictures, to host the third annual luncheon to honor this year’s female Oscar nominees.The event is set for von Furstenberg’s private Los Angeles residence, which last year welcomed co-host Hilary Swank and Anne Sweeney along with guests including Meryl Streep, Reese Witherspoon, Rosamund Pike, Patricia Arquette, Rita Ora and Laura Dern.

Vanity Fair Social Club
Platform, 8840 Washington Blvd., Culver City
The magazine’s awards-season activation continues for a third straight year, posting up at a local destination and offering programming, interactive opportunities and a private Oscar viewing party for social media influencers, journalists and other VIP Vanity Fair guests. The club runs through Feb. 27 from 12-6 p.m. daily. On the lineup will be panelists from Carol, Mad Max and Straight Outta Compton, as well as last year’s best supporting actress Oscar winner, Patricia Arquette.

Green-minded celebrities come together for this 13th annual pre-Oscar event, featuring a performance by Stevie Wonder. Up-and-comer Charlie Puth will open for the legendary singer. The organization will honor young eco-champions such as Nereida Chavez, Olivia Gorcey, Emma Leyson and Jazzmyn Stallworth in front of expected attendees Seal, Sarah Hyland, Jason Ritter and CeeLo Green. Journalist Soledad O’Brien will serve as the night’s emcee.

Oscars Sisters Soiree

Hosted by Alfre Woodard, the event toasts African-American women and women of color and their accomplishments. The seventh annual party — taking place in the newly-minted Vivienne Westwood Penthouse — will likely take on a different tone this year on the heels of Hollywood’s diversity controversy. An Evening of Canada’s Stars

The third annual event, presented by Telefilm Canada and the Consulate General of Canada and the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television, will feature Canadian stars Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara, who will receive the Legacy Award. Adam Beach, Lyriq Bent and Emmanuelle Chriqui will serve the evening’s presenters. The international ballroom will be packed with Hollywood stars from the big and small screens at this well-attended black-tie event. Per event spokesperson Edward Lozzi, organizers requested that the silent auction committee remove any Bill Cosby, Phil Spector and O.J. Simpson memorabilia from the block. Confirmed guests to date include Vince Vaughn, Rumer Willis, Tara Reid, Ian Ziering, Diane Ladd, Gloria Allred, Beverly Johnson, Martin Landau, Robert Forster, Powers Boothe, Lou Diamond Phillips, Richard Dreyfuss and Mimi Rogers.
