Mark Wahlberg will reunite with his Ted co-star — the profane, pot-smoking animated bear voiced by Seth MacFarlane — to present an award at this year’s Oscars.
“I’m excited to present an Oscar with Mark Wahlberg,” said Ted in a statement Friday. “I’m spending the next month learning to pronounce ‘Quvenzhané.'”
While Wahlberg is an Academy Awards veteran — he’s twice been nominated, as best supporting actor in 2006’s The Departed and for producing 2010’s The Fighter — this marks Ted’s first trip to the kudosfest.
The Oscars, featuring MacFarlane as a first-time host, will be presented Feb. 24 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
“We are happy to make it possible for Mark and Ted to make their debut appearance on the Oscar stage,” said the ceremony’s producers, Craig Zadan and Neil Meron. “And we won’t deny that Ted used his pull with our host to get himself the booking.”
Previously announced presenters include Adele, Barbra Streisand and Norah Jones, who will perform the best original song nominee “Everybody Needs a Best Friend” from Ted. (MacFarlane wrote the song’s lyrics, and Walter Murphy composed the music.)
