Los Angeles has been hit by rain over the past few days, with many fearing that the inclement weather could continue into Oscar Sunday, creating a wet and messy red carpet. However, it seems like the rain will taper off in time for arrivals at the awards show.
The Sunday afternoon forecast for the Dolby Theatre at the Hollywood & Highland Center, where the Oscars are set to take place, calls for scattered showers, with a 30 percent chance of precipitation, according to the National Weather Service. The temperature high is expected to be around 63, with winds around 5 mph.

For Sunday evening, it’s expected to be partly cloudy with a low around 50 and calm wind.
The hourly forecast on The Weather Channel’s weather.com shows that there’s a less than 25 percent chance of precipitation through the Oscars’ start time of 5:30 p.m. PT, so the stars shouldn’t worry about their dresses getting drenched prior to the event.
Still some red-carpet reporters on the scene were tweeting about it raining as recently as an hour ago, with the Academy’s Instagram account tweeting the below photo of a few red carpet reporters carrying umbrellas amidst a drizzle on the carpet. Hopefully the showers will stop before the stars arrive.
