Selma‘s “Glory” took home the Academy Award for best original song on Sunday night.
John Legend and Common beat out Diane Warren for “Grateful” in Beyond the Lights, Glen Campbell and Julian Raymond for “I’m Not Gonna Miss You” in Glen Campbell … I’ll Be Me, Gregg Alexander and Danielle Brisebois for “Lost Stars” in Begin Again and Shawn Patterson for “Everything Is Awesome” in The Lego Movie to take home the Oscar.
John Travolta and Idina Menzel presented the award to John Legend and Common, who received a standing ovation upon ending their empowering acceptance speech for the film’s first win of the night.
At last year’s awards show, Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez took home the honor for the Frozen ballad, “Let it Go.”
Neil Patrick Harris is hosting the 87th annual Academy Awards, which is being broadcast live on ABC from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
