The Imitation Game took home the Academy Award for best adapted screenplay on Sunday night.
Oprah presented the award to screenwriter Graham Moore. At the beginning of his acceptance speech Graham joked: “Thank you so much to the Academy and to Oprah.” The speech then took on a serious tone when the screenwriter admitted to attempting suicide due to feeling different. He ended his speech by saying, “I would like for this moment to be for that kid out there that feels weird and different … Stay weird.”
At last year’s awards show, Steve McQueen‘s 12 Years a Slave, written by John Ridley , took home the honor.
Neil Patrick Harris is hosting the 87th annual Academy Awards, which is being broadcast live on ABC from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
