Robin Roberts asked Reese Witherspoon about the #AskHerMore campaign while talking to the actress on the red carpet. Witherspoon, nominated for an Oscar this year for her role in Wild, spoke enthusiastically about the campaign.
“This is a movement to say we’re more than just our dresses,” said Witherspoon, noting that she thinks the dresses are beautiful and the actresses “love the artists who make all of our clothes,” but that she thinks reporters should focus on more than just fashion.
“It’s hard being a woman in Hollywood or in any industry,” said Witherspoon. She added that there are 44 female nominees this year and everyone wants to talk about the work they’ve done.
Before the Academy Awards, Witherspoon posted about #AskHerMore on Instagram, providing a list of sample questions she hoped reporters would ask:
