The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Wednesday announced the Documentary Short Subject contenders for the 89th Academy Awards. Five nominees will be chosen from the list of 10 films.
The movies, in alphabetical order by title, with their production companies, are listed below.

Nominations for the 89th Academy Awards will be announced Tuesday, Jan. 24. The Oscars will be held Sunday, Feb. 26, at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center in Hollywood, and will be televised live at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT on ABC. The awards ceremony also will be televised live in more than 225 countries and territories worldwide.
