The race for the best foreign-language film honor at the 88th Academy Awards has started, and European Film Promotion (EFP) will once again showcase the European contenders in its LA Screenings series.
The organization said that the series this year includes a record number of 27 titles, out of a total of 81 Oscar submissions in the category. Latvia and Albania will participate in the LA Screenings for the first time, it said.
“Since most of the films are still available for the U.S. market, distributors and international buyers are invited to the screenings along with the Academy members, who are offered an extra screening window in their tough schedule,” EFP said.
