COLOGNE, Germany – Two Lives, a historic drama from director Georg Maas starring Juliane Kohler and Liv Ullmann, will be Germany’s official entry in the race for the 2014 Oscar for best foreign language film.
The drama tells the true story of Kathrine Evensen (Kohler), a German woman raised in East Germany who lives in Norway, the child of a Norwegian woman (Liv Ullmann) and a German WWII solider. With the fall of the Berlin Wall, Kathrine’s secret past, including her involvement with the East German Stasi, comes to light, threatening the life of lies she has built up with her family.
