Kevin Winter/Getty ImagesHans Zimmer’s music for the Oscars on Feb. 26 has been released as a digital album on Apple’s iTunes.
The 84th Academy Awards — Celebrate the Music is an eight-song collection of performances by Zimmer, his fellow telecast music consultant Pharrell Williams, Sheila E., Esperanza Spalding, guitarist Stephane Wrembel, Giorgio Moroder, A.R. Rahman, violinist Ann Marie Calhoun, cellist Martin Tillman, Junkie XL and Peter Asher, who produced the album.
Zimmer wrote the lead track, “Celebrate the Oscars,” and collaborated on others — “It Don’t Mean a Thing If It Ain’t Got Pharrel” was with Williams, Spalding co-wrote “Sunrise on Bleecker Street” and Rahman co-wrote “Oscar Sangamam.”
All but their version of Bob Thiele‘s “(What a) Wonderful World” are available a la carte. The music was recorded at various Southern California studios and Miami.
