Oscars: Tim McGraw to Perform “I’m Not Gonna Miss You”

The country musician is set to perform Glen Campbell: I’ll Be Me‘s contender for best original song, “I’m Not Gonna Miss You,” written by Glen Campbell and Julian Raymond. The documentary follows Campbell on his goodbye tour across America with the Campbell Family Band.

“We couldn’t think of anyone better than Tim McGraw to properly celebrate Oscar nominee Glen Campbell. Tim is the consummate country artist and will bring a bit of Nashville to the Oscars stage,” said producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron in an announcement Thursday. Added McGraw: “I’m honored to be asked to sing this powerful song from one of the true legends of the music industry.”

The ballad is up for the honor against fellow awards show performers Common and John Legend‘s “Glory” from Selma, Rita Ora‘s version of Diane Warren‘s “Grateful” from Beyond the Lights and Gregg Alexander and Danielle Brisebois‘ “Lost Stars” from Begin Again (which the film’s actor Adam Levine will perform), as well as The Lego Movie‘s “Everything Is Awesome,” written by Shawn Patterson and to be performed by Tegan and Sara, featuring The Lonely Island.
