Dark comedy Ingrid Goes West is filling out its cast with a trio of rising stars: Straight Outta Compton star O’Shea Jackson Jr., Everybody Wants Some!! actor Wyatt Russell and Bridge of Spies‘ Billy Magnussen.
As The Hollywood Reporter exclusively reported, Aubrey Plaza and Elizabeth Olsen are starring in the film to be directed by Matt Spicer from a script by Spicer and David Branson Smith.
The story follows a young woman named Ingrid (Plaza) who becomes obsessed with a social media star named Taylor Sloane (Olsen) with a seemingly perfect life. When Ingrid decides to drop everything and move West to befriend Taylor, her behavior turns unsettling and increasingly dangerous.
Jackson Jr. will star as Ingrid’s love interest, while Magnussen and Russell will play Taylor Sloane’s brother and husband, respectively.
Plaza will produce the project along with Jared Ian Goldman, Star Thrower Entertainment’s Tim and Trevor White and Adam and Robert Mirels through their newly formed 141 Entertainment banner. Mary Solomon, Rick Rickertsen and Allan Mandelbaum will executive produce.
The film, which is Spicer’s feature directorial debut, is currently shooting in Los Angeles.
Jackson played his father, Ice Cube, in Universal’s hit Straight Outta Compton. He is repped by WME and Ziffren Brittenham.
Along with Richard Linklater’s Everybody Wants Some!!, Russell’s other credits include 22 Jump Street and the upcoming Table 19. He is repped by UTA.
Magnussen’s credits include The Big Short, directed by Adam McKay, and Bridge of Spies, helmed by Steven Spielberg. He was most recently seen in FX’s hit series The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story. Magnussen is repped by WME, BRS/Gage Talent Agency and Anonymous Content.
