The Palm Springs International ShortFest, which is set to run June 20-26 at the Camelot Theatres in Palm Springs, has unveiled a lineup that includes short films directed by Robin Wright, Matthew Modine and many others, starring such high-profile actors as Ian McKellen, Idris Elba, Kate Winslet, Helena Bonham Carter and Carrie Coon.
The fest will showcase 338 films, organized in 55 programs, including 46 world premieres, 12 international premieres, 42 North American premieres and 16 U.S. premieres.
The event also will offer a series of discussions and panels that include a conversation with actress-producer Kate Bosworth, who is serving as one of the festival’s jurors; a look at virtual reality; sessions on film financing, film composing and documentaries; and strategies for pitching projects and navigating the festival circuit.
Some of the talent and shorts on tap include Summer Phoenix in Across My Land (USA/France); Thomas Lennon and Lennon Parham in All Exchanges Final (USA); Tatiana Maslany in Apart From Everything (Canada); The Dark of Night (USA), directed by Wright and starring Leslie Bibb and Sam Rockwell; McKellen in Edmund the Magnificent (U.K.); Toby Jones in The Entertainer (U.K.); Julian Sands in The Escape (U.K.); Elba in Five by Five (U.K.); Rick Fox in Game (USA); Coon in Great Choice (USA); Winslet in The Lost Letter (Ireland); Rose Byrne and Bobby Cannavale in Martha Monster (Australia); Valerie Harper in My Mom and the Girl (USA); Bonham Carter in Poles Apart (U.K.); Show Business (USA), directed by Clark Duke; and Super Sex, directed by Modine and starring Kevin Nealon, Edward Asner, Elizabeth Perkins and Efren Ramirez.
