Paramount Animation has hired veteran Disney animator Lino DiSalvo as its new creative director.
DiSalvo comes from a 16-year stint at Walt Disney Animation Studios, during which he most recently served as head of animation on best animated feature Oscar-winner Frozen. His previous work includes Tangled and Bolt, for which he was supervising animator, and as an animator on Meet the Robinsons and Chicken Little.

It’s another hire from Disney for the fledgling Paramount Animation, established in summer 2011. In January, the division tapped John Kahrs — an Oscar winner for the Disney short Paperman — to direct its upcoming feature Shedd.
The announcement came from Paramount Film Group president Adam Goodman. “We have aspired to work with the industry’s greatest artists and storytellers, and Lino’s addition to our little animation family is thrilling given his incredible talent,” Goodman said in a statement. “CG animation is still in its earliest days, and his extraordinary artistry, coupled with the endless potential of the medium, makes for an incredibly exciting time to be building our own animation business and gives us a lot of continued inspiration for the future creatively.”
Paramount Animation is currently working on the live action-animation hybrid Monster Trucks, which stars Rob Lowe and Jane Levy and is directed by Epic helmer Chris Wedge. It is slated for a May 2015 release. The division also has planned The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water, directed by Paul Tibbitt and Mike Mitchell, for February 2015.
DiSalvo, who begins immediately in his new role, is represented by UTA.
