Paramount Home Media Distribution has signed an output deal with IFC Films, giving the Paramount Pictures division U.S. home entertainment rights to select theatrical releases from the indie film distributor.
Among the movies included in the deal are The D Train, the comedy starring Jack Black and James Marsden; Clouds of Sils Maria, with Juliette Binoche and Kristen Stewart; Good Kill, Andrew Niccol’s drone drama starring Ethan Hawke; and Sleeping with Other People, the romantic comedy starring Jason Sudeikis and Alison Brie.
(IFC picked up D Train and Sleeping with Other People after their Sundance premieres. Good Kill premiered at last year’s Toronto Film Festival.)
The deal follows PHMD’s successful home entertainment distribution of Richard Linklater‘s Oscar-winning drama Boyhood.
Physical and Internet digital home entertainment distribution of the upcoming films will be covered by PHMD after the films hit theaters. (Only Other People has not yet been released theatrically.) IFC will continue to handle VOD and EST sales to cable, satellite and telco providers.??
“Having worked with IFC Films on the home entertainment release of Boyhood, we are extremely enthusiastic about extending our relationship and look forward to bringing their compelling films to audiences across multiple distribution platforms,” said PHMD’s senior vp marketing and acquisitions Syrinthia Studer. “IFC Films has produced a slate of high-quality entertainment that we are confident film fans will embrace.”
Said IFC Films/Sundance Selects’s Lisa Schwartz: “We’re so pleased to be continuing our relationship with Paramount Pictures’ home entertainment division and building on the terrific partnership that began with the successful release of Boyhood. Paramount is an industry leader in home entertainment, so we’re excited our upcoming films will be in their very capable hands after their theatrical runs.”
