Says Bay: "Sound has been a major part of my movies. It's something I love and put a huge emphasis on."
Jason Kempin/Getty ImagesJust weeks before the scheduled opening of Welcome to Yesterday, Paramount Pictures’ low-budget found-footage movie produced by Michael Bay, the studio is pushing back the film’s release. It was to have opened Feb. 28.
The sci-fi feature, previously known as Almanac, centers on teens who build a time machine. The studio is now mulling a new release date during the summer or fall.

The postponement gives Paramount a chance to refine the marketing for the movie which was testing strongly, fueling hopes that the movie could be bigger than intially thought. Paramount will partner with fellow Viacom banner MTV Films on the film, using the MTV connection to reach the teen and the college demographic, the pic’s core audience and give it a better push. Having a promotional partner in MTV Films will also save costs.

Paramount most recently worked with MTV Films on co-promoting the hugely successful Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa.
Dean Israelite directed Yesterday, which has a budget in the $10 million to $15 million range. Bay, whose Transformers: Age of Extinction opens June 27, produced it with his Platinum Dunes partners Brad Fuller and Andrew Form.
