Paramount has taken Beverly Hills Cop 4 off the beat in 2016.
The studio on Thursday pulled the reboot of the popular cop comedy from its previously scheduled March 25, 2016, release slot. Jerry Bruckheimer is producing the project, which was to bring Eddie Murphy back to star as Axel Foley, the fish-out-of-water Detroit cop who goes to Beverly Hills to solve his best friend’s murder.
The first three Beverly Hills Cop films were released in 1984, 1987 and 1994, and earned a total of $735.5 million worldwide.
Paramount also said an untitled Bad Robot film will open on March 11, 2016. The studio recently extended its first-look agreement with J.J. Abrams‘ Bad Robot Productions through July 2018.
