Becoming the latest film to get out of the way of Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens, Paramount’s family offering Monster Trucks is being pushed back from Dec. 25, 2015 to March 18, 2016.
The new release date will also allow Monster Trucks, a CGI/live-action hybrid, to avoid a direct confrontation with Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip, which hits theaters Dec. 23.
J.J. Abrams‘ new Star Wars movie opens on Dec. 18. The film is expected to do giant business with all demos, including families.
Earlier this year, Paramount moved up the release of Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation from Christmas to July 31, largely in response to Force Awakens.
Monster Trucks, from Paramount and Nickelodeon Movies, is directed by Chris Wedge.
