Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 is hoping for box office success, but Kevin James isn’t lucky with critics this time out.
A dissatisfied response from 22 critics generated a current score of zero percent on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. The original title scored a 33 percent rating back in 2009, when James played the Segway-riding security cop.
Mall Cop 2 isn’t the first sequel to nab the dubious distinction. The film joins zero percent films such as National Lampoon’s Senior Trip, Jaws: The Revenge, I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer and many Disney animated sequels including Mulan II.
The Hollywood Reporter’s Frank Scheck was far from impressed as well, noting in his review: It “Makes the original look like an unheralded classic.”
