Peter Dinklage is attached to star in the adaptation of The Thicket, a crime thriller by Joe Lansdale.
Gianni Nunnari‘s Hollywood Gang is developing the project, which is set in East Texas in the early 20th century. The story centers on a young man who goes on a quest to rescue his sister after she has been kidnapped by a violent killer. He enlists the help of a crafty bounty hunter named Shorty (Dinklage), a grave-digging alcoholic son of an ex-slave and a street-smart prostitute to help him on his mission.
Nunnari is producing along with Dinklage and his longtime manager David Ginsberg, who will be producing through their newly formed production company. Shannon Gaulding, who works with Nunnari, will also serve as producer on the project.
“That Joe Lansdale’s dark vision will be brought to life by the brilliantly talented Peter Dinklage starring as Shorty — it is a dream of mine,” said Nunnari. “This is the kind of original movie with edge and style that Hollywood Gang is hungry for; luckily we found all these things in The Thicket. We cannot wait to share this movie with audiences around the world.”
Dinklage is best known for playing Tyrion Lannister on HBO’s hit Game of Thones, for which he’s won an Emmy and a Golden Globe. He also recently wrapped work on Pixels, starring Adam Sandler. He’s repped by CAA, Insight and Jackoway Tyerman.
Nunnari, who produced the thrillers Se7en and 300, is currently developing the historical epic Napoleon and Blood In, Blood Out through Warner Bros.-based company Hollywood Gang.
Lansdale’s book came out in September 2013. He’s repped by IPG.
