AP Images/InvisionPeter Sarsgaard has left CAA and signed with WME, The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively learned.
The move comes weeks after the actor’s NBC miniseries The Slap concluded earlier this month. He is currently in New York, headlining the Classic Stage Company’s contemporary adaptation of Hamlet through May 10.
Sarsgaard has two movies that will be released this Sept. 18: the Bobby Fischer chess drama Pawn Sacrifice, in which he plays the prodigy’s (Tobey Maguire) trainer, and Warner Bros.’ Whitey Bulger biopic Black Mass, in which Sarsgaard portrays Brian Halloran, an FBI informant and former associate of the notorious gangster (Johnny Depp).
In another real-life role, Sarsgaard also stars as controversial Yale behavioral science researcher Stanley Milgram in Experimenter, which premiered at Sundance in January and has been picked up by Magnolia for a U.S. release later this year.
Sarsgaard’s previous highlights include Blue Jasmine, An Education, Jarhead, Shattered Glass and Boys Don’t Cry. He also starred in the third season of The Killing on AMC.
Sarsgaard continues to be repped by Authentic and Peikoff Mahan.
CAA has lost a number of high profile clients in the past two weeks, the bulk of them following the 11 comedy agents who have defected to UTA. WME also landed Eli Roth from CAA last week.
