The trailer for Phantom Thread, Daniel Day-Lewis’ last pre-retirement project, has been released.
The drama stars the Oscar winner as Reynolds Woodcock, a fashion designer who caters to members of high society and the royal family in 1950s London, alongside his sister Cyril (Lesley Manville). He meets a young, strong-willed woman, Alma (Vicky Krieps), who soon becomes a fixture in his life as his muse and lover. Once controlled and planned, he finds his carefully tailored life disrupted by love.
The Annapurna and Focus release is helmed by Paul Thomas Anderson, who directed Day-Lewis in 2007’s There Will Be Blood.
Phantom Thread hits limited theaters Dec. 25.
