Phillip Noyce will direct international action-thriller Hunter Killer for Relativity Media.
It’s familiar territory for the filmmaker, who directed two films in Paramount’s Jack Ryan franchise—Clear and Present Danger and Patriot Games—and, more recently, Salt for Sony.
Noyce is set to begin lensing later this year from a script by Jamie Moss (X-Men: First Class), John Kolvenbach (Coney Island) and Arne Schmidt (Chain Reaction).
Original Film’s Neal Mortiz and Toby Jaffe are producing Hunter Killer with Relativity CEO Ryan Kavanaugh. Relativity president of worldwide production Tucker Tooley will executive produce.
Hunter Killer is based on the upcoming book Firing Point, by George Wallace Cdr. USN Ret. and Don Keith.
Novel tells the story of an untested American submarine captain who teams with U.S. Navy Seals to rescue the Russian president, who has been kidnapped by a rouge general.
Noyce is repped by UTA.
