The North American rights to the paranormal possession film Anguish have been scooped up by Gravitas Ventures.
Inspired by a true story, Anguish centers on a teenage girl, played by A Single Man‘s Ryan Simpkins, who realizes her psychological trauma is due to her recent possession by the soul of a recently deceased girl.
Karina Logue and Annika Marks also star in the film, which was written and directed by Sonny Malhi.
Anguish is Malhi’s directorial debut, having previously written the thriller The Roommate, starring Minka Kelly, and serving as executive producer on The Stranger and The House at the End of the Street.
The deal was negotiated by Gravitas Ventures’ Nolan Gallagher, and by ICM Partners and Robert Labate of Holland and Knight, on behalf of the filmmakers.
The horror film will hit select theaters and VOD on Dec. 18.
