Turn a beloved fantasy book and movie into a coloring book for all ages to enjoy? As you wish. In December, IDW Publishing will release The Princess Bride: A Storybook to Color, an adaptation of the classic William Goldman book and Rob Reiner movie, and The Hollywood Reporter has the exclusive debut of the trailer for the project.
The Princess Bride: A Storybook to Color will feature brand-new illustrations by artist Rachel Curtis, turning the adventures of Westley, Buttercup, Inigo and Fezzik into a story waiting for readers to bring their own interpretation to. (Don’t worry — Vizzini is in there too; it’d be inconceivable not to include him, after all.)
The new edition of the story arrives ahead of the 30th anniversary of the movie next year.
“The Princess Bride is a movie that only gets better with each viewing,” said Jerry Bennington, IDW’s vp new product development, in a statement from the publisher. “It’s a truly magical balance of comedy, action, and fairy tale. We’ve found the perfect artist to adapt this story into a coloring book in Rachel Curtis. She’s a huge fan of the film and is doing a wonderful job creating illustrations that will allow you to spend hours in the world of the Dread Pirate Roberts and Princess Buttercup.”
The Princess Bride: A Storybook to Color will be released in December. It’ll give you something to do while you wait for an hour before swimming.
