That the fictional universes of 20th Century Fox’s Aliens, Predator and Prometheus can cross over shouldn’t come as a surprise — in addition to the two AVP: Aliens vs. Predator movies, Ridley Scott‘s Prometheus was explicitly created as a prequel to the original Alien. Next month, the three different franchises will become more closely linked than ever before thanks to a new comic book storyline titled Fire and Stone.
Spanning three franchises, four different comic book series and five creative teams, Fire and Stone begins with Paul Tobin and Juan Ferreyra‘s Prometheus: Fire and Stone. Ahead of its launch, publisher Dark Horse Comics has released a trailer for the series, showing Tobin and Kelly Sue DeConnick — who writes the final leg of the overall storyline, bringing elements from each series to their conclusion — talking about the origins of Fire and Stone.

“We’ve done a lot of things to work [these franchises] together,” Tobin says of the overall storyline, “and I think watching how they link … that’s been an amazing thing for me to be a part of, and I think the readers will really respond to that.”
The structure of Fire and Stone is such that each of the four series that make up the event — Prometheus: Fire and Stone, Aliens: Fire and Stone, AVP: Fire and Stone and Predator: Fire and Stone — are published on an eight-week cycle, with a new issue of one of the four series released every two weeks. All four series share concepts, characters and situations, with the storyline resolving in a special issue released after all four series have completed their run.
Prometheus: Fire and Stone No. 1 is released in comic book stores and digitally on Sept. 10, with Aliens: Fire and Stone released two weeks later.
