As Red Granite Pictures prepares to expand its slate, the company has tapped veteran indie producer David Koplan to be its head of physical production and development.
In his new role, Koplan will work closely with Red Granite chairman Riza Aziz and vice chairman Joey McFarland.
Before joining Red Granite, Koplan made a name for himself as a producer on nearly a dozen films including Stuart Blumberg‘s upcoming film Thanks for Sharing, starring Mark Ruffalo and Gwyneth Paltrow. He also served as an executive producer on Marc Lawrence‘s upcoming untitled film starring Hugh Grant and Marisa Tomei.
“We are pleased to be adding such a talented film executive to our team who shares the same vision as Red Granite Pictures and will lend well to expanding our slate,” Aziz said. “David shares our appetite for high-pedigree projects that will attract the widest possible audiences.”
The Los Angeles-based film production, finance and international sales company behind the indie comedy Friends With Kids recently wrapped The Wolf of Wall Street, directed by Martin Scorsese and featuring an an ensemble cast that includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill and Matthew McConaughey. The Paramount film will bow Nov. 15. Red Granite’s upcoming slate also includes the supernatural fantasy/thriller Horns, starring Daniel Radcliffe and Juno Temple; and Out of the Furnace, with Christian Bale, Casey Affleck and Zoe Saldana.
