In addition to his extensive work in television, Hazanavicius has also starred in such films as George Clooney’s The Monuments Men and OSS 117: Lost in Rio, directed by his brother Michel.
The script for nOmber One was co-written by Serge Hazanavicius, Stephane Dan, Mary-Noelle Dana and Alexis Galmot. In addition to being a professional skier and mountain guide, Dan has consulted on over a hundred films concerning skiing and board sports, including the James Bond title The World Is Not Enough.
nOmber One will be co-produced by French banners Rouge International, headed by Julie Gayet, and Elisa Soussan’s myFamily. Financial terms of the project were not given.
Principal photography is expected to start next month in France, and the film also will shoot extensively in March and April on the Himalayan ski slopes in India.
The announcement of the Indo-French project was timed with French President Francois Hollande’s state visit to India. Hollande, who arrived Sunday, will be the guest of honor on Tuesday at the Republic Day parade in New Delhi.
As reported earlier, Reliance is part of the new alliance with Steven Spielberg’s DreamWorks, Jeff Skoll’s Participant Media and Entertainment One that formed Amblin Partners. Reliance Entertainment is owned by the Reliance ADAG group, headed by Anil Ambani.
