Summer camp for indoor kids
IMG Academy will hold an esports Camp at its Bradenton, Fla., campus July 30-Aug. 5. The unique week will focus on helping 12- to 18-year-old campers hone their skills in Valve’s Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
“IMG’s esports camp for CS:GO players seems like the perfect opportunity for kids to experience professional esports from an inside point of view,” professional GS:GO player Spencer “Hiko” Martin, who will serve alongside Alexander “Kassad” Trifunovic and Eric “adreN” Hoag as game instructors, said in a statement. “Having something like this when I was younger would have really kick-started my professional career. I look forward to participating in this and encourage people to give it a try.”
IMG Academy’s performance experts will also be on hand to advise on communication, leadership, nutrition, fitness and reaction times, with sessions on mental and physical conditioning. The camp will be sponsored by HyperX, which will furnish the event with its gaming headsets, keyboards, mice and mouse pads.
“We are excited to expand IMG’s esports portfolio with the debut of a unique camp experience at IMG Academy,” IMG director of esports strategy and engagement Lilia Russo said in a statement. “Following the success of our professional development programs with FaZe Clan and compLexity, we are thrilled to continue supporting the growth of the esports industry by welcoming amateurs looking to gain a competitive edge and a well-rounded approach to gaming.”
