Rose McGowan has a message for Hollywood: Be brave.
McGowan tweeted an image from a smartphone text note on Monday afternoon to her 637,000 followers addressed to “women and men in the entertainment industry who know exactly whom and what I am talking about.” She makes no mention of the subject matter she’s referring to, but she writes that it’s time to “be brave.”
Monday’s tweet comes on the heels of a flurry of messages she posted on the social media platform Oct. 13. In those posts, McGowan declared that she was raped by a studio head only to see “Hollywood/Media” shame her “while adulating my rapist.”
But what she does make clear is what the industry can and should do now.

“Do not work with those you know to be offenders or you are no better than they,” she writes. “Take a stand. You are culpable for your actions. Stop rewarding sociopaths.”
McGowan, who in two hours received more than 200 likes for the message, continues that every time those in the industry sanction abhorrent behavior, they are, in effect, “aiding and abetting a crime.”
“How many more stories do you have to hear before you do the right thing and stop rewarding men that are predators? Why are you so cowardly that you would take the softer, easier way out? I can tell you this, your soul is a blighted one if you do so,” the note reads.
The actress turned activist/filmmaker/musician ends her powerful message on a positive note, writing that she believes the town can “be better.”
McGowan concludes: “Your personal legacy, the very fabric of your being, is at stake, so fight for it. I know you have it in you to be better. I know you have it in you to break free from the bonds of secrecy. So do it.”
