Bad Feminist author Roxane Gay is proving to be an excellent supporter of Ava DuVernay’s new film A Wrinkle in Time.
On Friday the writer and critic tweeted that she bought out two screenings of the film at the ArcLight Culver City theater in Los Angeles, at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday, March 10 and 6:15 p.m. on Sunday, March 11. “There will be a table near the ticket taker stand where you can redeem your tickets. FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE.,” she wrote.
Gay added in a subsequent tweet that she had 101 tickets available for the Saturday screening and 83 tickets for the Sunday screening. “PLAN ACCORDINGLY,” she added.
Gay, who has tweeted that she is a fan of the film, is hardly the only public figure to buy out screenings for influential films this year. When Black Panther first arrived in theaters, Octavia Spencer, Kendrick Lamar and Chadwick Boseman were all reported to have bought out screenings so that various parties could see the film for free.
“We went to the @WrinkleInTime premiere tonight. What a lovely, gorgeously shot, inspiring movie. Absolutely go see it,” Gay wrote on Twitter after having seen the film.

If you’re in L. A., I bought out two screenings of Wrinkle in Time at the ArcLight Culver City. You can go to the 3pm show on Saturday or the 6:15 pm show on Sunday. There will be a table near the ticket taker stand where you can redeem your tickets. FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE.
