Disney’s The Jungle Book stayed atop the Russian box office this past weekend as family adventure and animation continued to entice local viewers.
Jon Favreau’s rendition of the Rudyard Kipling classic grossed $4.1 million in its second outing for a cume of $14.9 million.
Universal’s The Huntsman: Winter’s War opened at No. 2. Cedric Nicolas-Troyan’s action-adventure pic took in $2 million.
The French/Belgian family animation Robinson Crusoe debuted in third place, grossing $1.7 million.
Hardcore Henry, a POV sci-fi action pic produced and distributed by Timur Bekmambetov’s Bazelevs and directed by Ilya Naishuller, slipped to the fourth spot. The movie took in $462,000 for a cume of 2.2 million.
Ariel Vromen’s Criminal opened at No. 5 with $355,000.
