Universal Studios Home Entertainment wants you to say hello to their little friend, the Blu-ray edition of Scarface.
The movie, which has become a cult classic and ironically a huge influence on gang culture in America, will make its Blu-ray debut Sept. 6.
Many of the DVD extras are coming along for the ride, although the edition will have some new features, including a documentary on its effect on filmmakers and culture. There will also be a picture-in-picture feature aswell as a scorecard feature, allowing you to keep track the number of F-words said and bullets fired.
The movie will be out in a regular Blu-ray edition, a limited edition that comes with a digital copy of the movie plus the original 1932 black and white classic, and a super duper edition (my words) that comes with a hand-painted humidor. Yes, a humidor. That edition is limited to only 1000 and will cost $999.99.
USHE is also holding an art contest, asking fans to create Scarface-inspired work using images from the film. Universal will select the top 25 and then ask fans to vote on their top 10. Those 10 works will be made into art cards for the limited edition Blu-ray and the winner’s art will be run as a billboard in a major city.
By the way, check out the trailer for the Blu-ray to see how gleaming the movie will look:
