Overdrive is getting back in gear.
Scott Eastwood will star in Overdrive, an action project being produced by Taken director Pierre Morel and Christopher Tuffin.
The story centers on two car thieves, brothers, who journey to the south of France for new opportunities and wind up in the crosshairs of the local crime boss.
Michael Brandt and Derek Haas wrote the script and are also producing. Antonio Negret, who helmed the Jim Caviezel action flick Transit, is directing. Sentient Entertainment’s Renee Tab is executive producer.
The project has been around since at least 2011 and has gone through a couple of iterations. At one point, Alex Pettyfer and Matthew Goode were attached, while another version saw Jamie Bell and Garrett Hedlund.
Kinology is selling foreign distribution rights. UTA is handling domestic rights.
Eastwood, the son of Clint Eastwood, is emerging into his own as an actor. He recently wrapped shooting Suicide Squad, Warner Bros.’ feature consisting of DC villains, and recent credits include The Longest Ride and Fury.
He can also be seen opposite Taylor Swift in the pop star’s latest video, “Wildest Dreams,” which has already racked up over 10 million views since its debut Sunday night.
He is repped by UTA, Joanne Horowitz Management and attorney Rick Genow.
