COLOGNE, Germany – German singer and actor Herbert Gronemeyer will head up the German-language feature film jury at this year’s Zurich Film Festival, which runs Sept. 20th -30th.
One of Germany’s most successful recording artists, Gronemeyer is arguably best known internationally for his role as Navy journalist Lieutenant Werner in Wolfgang Petersen’s Oscar-nominated Das Boot (1981). Gronemeyer appeared in several other films, including alongside Julie Christie, Burt Lancaster and Bruno Ganz in Bernhard Sinkel’s drama Fathers and Sons (1985) and in a cameo in Anton Corbijn’s directorial debut Control (2007). ?But his greatest success has been in the recording studio as a multi-platinum selling solo artist and as a composer on films such as Corbijn’s The American (2010).
At the 8th Zurich Film Festival, Gronemeyer will head the jury responsible for honoring the best German-language productions running in official selection.
