Sinister 2 helmer Ciaran Foy has signed on to direct Broad Green Pictures’ psychological horror film Eli.
Based on a 2015 Black List screenplay by David Chirchirillo, the film centers on a young boy who undergoes treatment for a rare disease at a secluded clinic, which becomes a haunted prison with no way out. Ian Goldberg and Richard Naing have been tapped to pen a rewrite.
Intrepid Pictures’ Trevor Macy has come on to produce alongside Bellevue Prods.’ John Zaozirny. Broad Green founders Gabriel and Daniel Hammond will executive produce. Melinda Nishioka is shepherding the project for Intrepid.
Production is scheduled to begin in the summer.

In addition to the Sinister sequel, Foy has partnered with Blumhouse on a number of projects in the works, including The Shee, which he will write and direct. Foy made his feature directing debut with Citadel, which premiered at the 2012 incarnation of SXSW and won the festival’s Midnighters Audience Award.
Goldberg and Naing most recently wrote The Boy Who Drew Monsters, which James Wan is developing for New Line. The pair also wrote Emile Hirsch’s horror film The Autopsy of Jane Doe and Cropsey for Amblin Partners.
In recent years, Intrepid has become one of the most active companies in the horror business, with such credits as The Bye Bye Man for STX and Ouija: Origin of Evil for Universal as well as The Strangers and Oculus. The company also produced the Denzel Washington-Ryan Reynolds thriller Safe House and is currently in postproduction on the Mike Flanagan-helmed horror thriller Gerald’s Game, based on Stephen King’s novel of the same name, for Netflix.
Foy is repped by UTA. Goldberg is handled by WME, The Nacelle Co. and Del Shaw Moonves. Naing is represented by APA, Circle of Confusion and Del Shaw Moonves.
