Marisa Liston has been promoted to executive vp, domestic publicity for the Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group, it was announced Wednesday by Andre Caraco, co-president of marketing, and Christine Birch, president of marketing for the studio.
Liston, who reports to Caraco, will develop and oversee the key domestic publicity strategies on all feature films released by Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures Animation.
Liston most recently served as senior vp, national publicity and was involved in orchestrating and overseeing the national launch of a number of films each year, such as the four most recent James Bond films, including Skyfall.
The studio’s two national teams, which will now report to Liston, are headed by Sara Reich, vp, national publicity, and April Florentino, also vp, national publicity, who previously served as Liston’s second-in-command. Also reporting to Liston are Angela Galgani, senior vp, East Coast publicity; Mary Powell, senior vp, special events; Gloria Hann, vp, field publicity; and Chrissy Quesada, vp, still photography.
Commenting on the announcement, Caraco, who led the publicity department from 2006 until his promotion earlier this year, said, “Marisa’s experience, strategic insight and natural ability to focus on effective tactics made her the best possible candidate to lead the publicity department.”
Prior to her tenure at Sony, Liston worked at Baker-Winoker-Ryder, where she represented such actors as Sarah Michelle Gellar, Jennifer Garner, Casey Affleck, David Spade and Ryan Reynolds, among others. She also served a brief stint at 20th Century Fox.
