There’s a new poster for Alien: Covenant, and it’s bringing a classical air to (scary) proceedings.
The image was released Thursday morning by 20th Century Fox via Twitter, with an appropriately Biblical outlook to the accompanying text (which has already appeared in earlier promos for the movie): “The path to paradise begins in hell.”
That tone is matched by the image itself, which at once calls back to depictions of the underworld from Renaissance-era paintings as well as artwork created by the original designer of the xenomorphic alien, H.R. Giger. That’s not all that can be seen in the image, however; note the appearance, in the top left corner, of an Alien Queen — perhaps suggesting that version of the creature will make its first appearance onscreen since 2004’s Alien vs. Predator.
