Spy Kids 4: All the Time in the World isn’t going to be the typical movie. Here’s why.
“Families are going to love the interactivity of this new addition to the movie-going experience,” director Robert Rodriguez says. “And best of all, you won’t have to pay extra for 4D Aromascope, which will be provided to every theater whether it be 2D or 3D.”
How’s it going to work? Moviegoers receive an Aromascope card and there will be opportunities to rub the appropriate space on the card and “smell” whatever’s going on in the film.
The kid-friendly four-quel, led by Jessica Alba and Joel McHale (barely seen in the new trailer), centers on a retired spy who tells her children about her secret spy past. Even Ricky Gervais, voicing the talking robot dog Argonaut, makes a brief appearance. McHale even asks, “What’s that smell?” near the end of the teaser.
Spy Kids 4 flies into theaters Aug. 19.
