Stan Lee hasn’t even filmed his next Marvel cameo, and he already has an idea for another superhero movie he can appear in.
Speaking to the LA Times at the Kids’ Choice Awards, the beloved Marvel Comics writer and editor joked that rival DC Comics should invite him to shoot a scene for their upcoming Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises.
“I wonder why DC Comics doesn’t have me do a cameo in Batman?” he said. “Just think how people would come to see that. They wouldn’t believe it.”
New Thor footage showing Lee as a truck driver trying to pull out the Norse god’s iconic hammer recently made waves at CinemaCon. Lee is also set to film a cameo for another upcoming Marvel film, Captain America: The First Avenger, though he said he wasn’t sure what role he’d play.
“They just tell me what to do,” he said. “I never have anything to say about it. When I show up, I never know what I’m gonna do.”
When asked why he thinks comic book adaptations are dominating this summer’s release slate, Lee said superheroes fulfill the needs of people who have grown out of fairy tales.
“They’re like fairy tales but they’re for older people in the real world,” he said, “and I think everybody loves things that are bigger than life, you know? And certainly superhero movies are.”
Thor hits theaters May 6, with Captain America following on July 22 and The Dark Knight Rises in July 2012.
