The Force has certainly been with Lucasfilm Ltd. and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment during the first week of the Star Wars: The Complete Saga‘s release on Blu-ray.
The nine-disc set took in $84 million globally since its launch on Sept. 16, selling 515,000 units in North America, and making the set the highest-selling and most pre-ordered title in Blu-ray history.
Fans got a preview of some of the added features at Comic-Con this summer, where some of the deleted scenes were screened.
Despite the warm commercial welcome, the release has caused some grumbling among fans, who are upset over tweaks to the original films, including the adding of a Darth Vader line to the climactic scene of Return of the Jedi.
Along with the six feature films, the set includes making-of documentaries, popular Star Wars spoofs, deleted and alternate scenes, and interviews.
