@starwars/InstagramAs all true Star Wars fans know, there must be balance to the Force, and the first new footage from this winter’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens to be released in months has provided it: Just as Kylo Ren wields a red lightsaber for the bad guys, so it is that John Boyega‘s Finn finds himself wielding a blue lightsaber.
The footage — released on Instagram Thursday morning — is the first time that fans have had a chance to see Boyega’s character using the lightsaber, which was teased in Drew Struzan‘s D23 Expo-exclusive poster earlier this month (Struzan’s image is at the bottom of the post).The lightsaber Finn’s using might have a history of its own: Not only does its color traditionally denote the heroes of the piece, but some have suggested that it’s actually the lightsaber used by Anakin Skywalker in earlier movies.
Boyega reacted to the reveal in suitable manner on Twitter:
