A new TV spot for Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released on Wednesday night, and the entire focus is on John Boyega’s character, Finn.
The drip-drip of teasers continues, and in this minutelong spot, there’s a heavy suggestion that Finn’s journey closely mirrors that of Luke Skywalker’s from episodes IV-VI.
We see the rebellious side of Finn, as he defiantly tells someone, “You don’t know a thing about me, what I’ve seen,” with hints that whatever it is he did see was the root cause of him presumably leaving behind the life of a stormtrooper — yet not escaping the working conditions or hatred from the vast majority of the galaxy’s inhabitants.
The spot also intersects the action with the words: “Discover the Force within” — possibly another clue that Finn’s character will echo Luke’s experience of self-discovery.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits theaters on Dec. 18.
