Star Wars fans now have another taste of the mission to steal the plans to the Death Star.
The new trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story debuted Thursday during Good Morning America, two months ahead of the film’s release. Rogue One, from director Gareth Edwards, stars Felicity Jones as Jyn Erso, the leader of a team tasked with acquiring the plans to the Empire’s secret weapon.
Even more so, it reveals how her father is critical to the development of the super-weapon: “The power that we are dealing with here is immeasurable.”
After wrapping, the film underwent reshoots some believe to have cost as much as $30 million, but in this week’s The Hollywood Reporter cover story, Jones downplayed any worries the costly reshoots might cause.
“Obviously when you come to the edit, you see the film come together and you think, ‘Actually, we could do this better, and this would make more sense if we did this,’ ” Jones said. “I’ve done it so many times. I mean, you wouldn’t just give your first draft on this story, would you?”
Donnie Yen, Forest Whitaker, Diego Luna and Alan Tudyk also star in the film.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will be released Dec. 16.
