Stephen Colbert took a moment of Thursday’s Late Show to comment on the newly-released trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
“It’s got everything: Stormtroopers, Imperial walkers, that droid that’s just a box with legs!” he noted of the Star Wars spinoff starring Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen and Forest Whitaker. “It’s got the Star Wars logo, people standing in florescent lighting and, of course, the Death Star, which the Empire can’t stop building for some reason.”
“I cannot wait,” he continued of the film’s December release. “My only issue is, shouldn’t I have to wait? I’m used to waiting ten years for a new Star Wars movie, and twenty for a good one.”
“Don’t get me wrong — I’m going to be there to see it opening weekend, just like I will for Episode VIII, the young Han Solo movie, Episode IX, the BobaFett movie, and VH1’s Behind the Music: Cantina Band,” he joked. “I’m just happy they put ‘one’ in the title. That way, we know there will be sequels and I can’t wait for the sixth installment, Rogue One 2: Episode III.“
