LONDON – U.K. production banner TallTree Pictures has corralled a $2 million cash injection for Harrigan, a crime thriller starring Stephen Tompkinson.
The project is billed as a gritty crime thriller set in 1970s Newcastle and will be directed by Vince Woods and written by Arthur McKenzie.
Tompkinson is a familiar face to millions in the U.K. after starring in TV shows including DCI Banks and Wild At Heart. His film credits include Brassed Off.
The investment from private funding sources is lead by independent venture capital management company Rivers Capital Partners, which is supporting through cash from its £7.5million ($12 million) North East Angel Fund.
TallTree, with offices in London and in the North East of England, aims to make commercially driven films and has tapped the fund for cash to support the Tompkinson starrer.
