StudioCanal has bought an original action-thriller pitch from The Age of Adaline screenwriter J. Mills Goodloe.
Sana follows a Germany-based Air Force major who flies Predator drones over Yemen. He discovers his entire squadron has been poisoned by a jihadist infiltrator. Given only days to live, he travels to the Arabian Peninsula against orders of the U.S. government to hunt down the men responsible for orchestrating the assassination of his squadron.
Neal Moritz and Tania Landau will produce via their Original Film banner.
Goodloe recently signed on to adapt YA novel Everything, Everything for MGM. The stories follows a teen who has a rare disease that causes her to be allergic to everything. After years of hiding in her home with just her mother and her nurse, she begins to fall for the new boy who moves in next door. He’s also writing Christian the Lion for Sony with Neil Moritz set to produce.
He previously wrote the script for The Best of Me, the adaptation of Nicholas Sparks‘ novel that starred James Marsden and Michelle Monaghan. The film has earned $35.9 million to date. He also wrote the original script for Lionsgate’s romantic drama The Age of Adaline, which starred Blake Lively as a woman who is rendered ageless by an accident.
Goodloe also worked on the script for Fox’s The Mountain Between Us, a romantic drama that will star Rosamund Pike and Charlie Hunnam as two strangers who survive a plane crash in the mountains. The film is set to be released in February 2017. He’s repped by UTA.
